Is there an alternative string for an Ernie Ball VP when the stock string breaks? Yes, there is.
My string broke after 3 years of using it. So i bought a 1mm fishing line. It’s around Php120.00 on Shopee. You can use the 0.8, or the 1mm. Both is fine.
I’ve been using it for 3 weeks now, and it feels ok. I think this is a nice fix especially if you don’t want to spend >Php1200 on Shnobel Tone’s Lifetime String Replacement Kit.
You have a whole 5mm of string to break if your current volume pedal fishing line snaps. But I think it won’t break that easily because it’s made of Kevlar. And it can withstand 80-140lbs of force. And pretty sure the volume pedal’s spring and knob action isn’t close to that. I haven’t measured it, but I’m pretty sure it won’t.
2024 Update: The fishing line broke after 3 years. I had to change it again. I’m thinking of buying the lifetime string kit. But hey, 3 years is not bad for that kind of price.
